A Free Press … or is it?

October 28, 2008

Continuing from the theme of my previous post, I’d like to recommend to you two lengthy posts by the Anchoress entitled Our Unfree Press and Press Coverage Negative on McCain.  She is such a thinker, yet remains accessible.

Truly, if the Oldstream Media doesn’t start treating Obama like a bonafide human being rather than as a god-man, and O wins this election, our country is in deep doo-doo.  I guess I foresee two possibilities:

Scenario the First:

The Oldstream Media will continue to fawn over and promote “their” guy .  And the New Media will be the only source of any other information.  O will continue to sell rights to access to the highest bidder, thus continuing the trend of pushing the little guys in journalism out the door, and consolidating the survivors in their survivor mentality.  They’ll be more concerned about their own survival than they will be concerned with getting the truth out, or speaking truth to power, or other such Classical Liberal notions.

The Modern Liberal individuals who get all their news from Oldstream sources will continue to be mesmerized by the smoke, mirrors, and lies.  Real Americans who seek out New Media information sources will continue to be outraged at the O-team’s behavior and values

Tyrants across the world will rub their hands together in glee as the greatest country in the world is brought to her knees by the All-Democrat government’s work to impose restrictions on free speech, redistribution of wealth by force, and other Marxist principles put into action.   They will attack our country, both directly and indirectly, in order to hasten the process of America’s descent from beacon of freedom — the place where everyone wants to live — into the banana-republic-style swamps of squalor and Newspeak equivocation.

You think the 2000 election was divisive?  You think this year has been divisive?  You ain’t seen nuttin’ yet.

Scenario the Second:

By some miracle, Oldstream Media will begin a backlash against the O-team’s high-handedness and greediness.  They will begin to ask him substantive questions (and not settle for fluff and obfuscation in place of answers) and to investigate the crap from his past.  O and his handlers will increase their tactic of blocking access, and O will become as isolated and uncommunicative as Bush II is now.

World tyrants still will observe O’s inexperience and ineffectiveness, will understand his interior weaknesses, and will take advantage of it in ways that will cause grave harm to our country.  However, with a hostile, or at least legitimately neutral press, O will be forced to ratchet back his more radical notions, and the attacks on our country from without and rape of our country from within will be lessened in comparison to Scenario the First.

Wow, that sure feels better.  What a world.

I am so glad to see that others realizing the same thing I am realizing and are writing about it well with plenty of documentation to back it up. Great article on a grave subject.

If the press were objective, impartial, or even honest, the Democratic Party would either be much different, or would have gone the way of the Dodo bird. As it is, a dangerously leftist political party is upheld by a dangerously dishonest mainstream media that has become the propaganda wing of the DNC. The media WILL NOT cover both sides fairly. As we speak, the LA Times is refusing to release video of Barack Obama, Rashid Khalidi, William Ayers, and Bernadine Dohrn toasting one another while kowtowing to Palestinian groups. Does anyone believe that the LA Times would do the same if the video was of John McCain with far right radicals at some ultra-right wing cause?

No free society, no democracy, can long withstand a culture informed by propaganda. And that is precisely where we’re at today.
