This is all they can come up with?
Let me try to get this straight.
Obama’s people sent 30 investigators to Alaska to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin. Need to discredit her at all costs, after all, in order to win big. And THIS is all they could come up with? Man, this lady is clean. I mean, look at it:
- 30 investigators trawling the state for any whiff of offal
- a series of complaints the Palin/Heath family made in 2005 against their apparently psychotic ex-brother-in-law Mike Wooten
- Gov. Palin later fired the public safety commissioner, Walter Monegan, an Alaska cabinet post.
- The Obamabots are trying to paint the firing as retaliation for Monegan’s not firing Wooten from the State Police, as though that’s a bad thing
The just-released “ethics” investigation found that Monegan was fired for many reasons, the Wooten affair being only one of them.
I find that, although Walter Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor in his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.
Because lawyers can’t think straight, they found that this — in spite of being “a proper and lawful exericise” of the governor’s authority — was an abuse of the governor’s office and power.
The so-called ethics investigation doesn’t give you the full facts about the Wooten affair, so here they are:
The Alaska State Police internal investigation found that Wooten did these things (admin. emphasis):
Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.
He illegally shot a moose.
He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.
He told others his father-in-law would “eat a f’ing lead bullet” if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce. [That’s called a “death threat.” — Admin.]
And … beyond the investigation sparked by the [Palin/Heath] family, trooper commanders saw cause to discipline or give written instructions to correct Wooten seven times since he joined the force….
Let me set you straight, my friends. Mike Wooten’s sorry ass should have been fired immediately upon the Alaska State Police internal investigation being completed. And he should be banned from working in any law-enforcement environment for the rest of his life. And he should be put on the watch list for mentally ill and firearms, if such a thing exists in Alaska, which it probably doesn’t, but it should, and his should be the starter name.
I do not know what was going through Monegan’s mind about all this, if anything. Maybe it was the union angle, maybe his own power trip, maybe he is just an incompetent dumbass, maybe the Republican Machine that Gov. Palin was busting up was trying to get to her through this and Monegan was caught in the middle. He should have been doing everything within his power to get Psycho Wooten out of law enforcement. Instead, he got himself fired and he increased my respect for Gov. Palin. You go, grrrl!
“She [Gov. Palin] said troopers like this one … my former brother-in-law … are the things that make people not trust troopers,” Monegan told The Post .
